There’s a certain reputation that earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) get saddled with: they’re boring. And you know what, guys? That’s just not fair.
Now I’ll be completely upfront here and say that as a Taurus who’s married to another Taurus, I’m a wee bit biased. But I like to think I speak for my sign (and elemental cohorts) when I say it’s not just all punctuality and dependability and general adulting over here. And with the sign of the bull specifically, there’s more to us than what meets the eye.
So let me wax poetic about the Taureans among us for just a bit, and explain just why they’re so swoon-worthy.
They’re Sensual
When people describe Taurus, they generally lead with something like “practicality” — but Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet (and goddess) of love and beauty. Taureans delight in earthly pleasures, and place a high value on intimacy. They generally know what they want both in and out of the bedroom, and are willing to put in the time and effort to get it.
They’re Earthy
Taureans are often hardwired to enjoy earthy activities like gardening and cooking — any excuse to get their hands dirty and experience life through all five senses. They also adore spending time in nature. I’ve yet to find a Taurus that doesn’t adore forest bathing. Getting back to our earthy roots is good for our souls.
They Love the Finer Things
They’re not just amazing cooks (and I assure you, they are), they’re also foodies of the highest caliber. Taurus loves travel, fine dining, and luxury goods in general. Donna Meagle from Parks & Recreation was so obviously a Taurus. Treat Yo Self might as well be the sign’s mantra.
They’re Patient
Taureans are blessed with innate patience. It’s almost a superpower. Not only does this contribute to their tenacity in most areas of their lives, but it also makes them incredible friends, parents, and leaders. Because they’re fixed earth signs, they’re generally a stabilizing influence in most situations.
They’re Peace-Loving
Taurus is the sign of the bull, and while for many that might conjure up images of red capes and fighting, it’s not really all that accurate. Think more Ferdinand the Bull — happy just to lazily sit in a meadow eating flowers all day. While they’re certainly passionate about their loved ones and what they believe in, they’re also quick to diffuse any tense situation.
They’re Loyal
Along those same lines, Taurus is incredibly loyal to their friends and family; in fact, they can have a bit of a protective streak. And that natural-born tenacity is just as applicable to their relationships as it is to their careers. When they’ve invested their time — not to mention emotions — in a person, they’re not likely to give up on them easily.
They’re Independent
But as devoted to their friends and family as they are, Taurus is independent, and yes, stubborn to a fault. (See how I waited until the very last minute to interject the bull’s most common stereotype?) If they don’t want to do something, they’re not going to bow to the pressure of those around them. And depending on their other chart placements, their boundaries are generally strong.
