Do you keep track of where the moon resides from day to day? What phase she’s in? What sign she’s transiting? It may seem small, but when you take a moment during the evening to acknowledge where the moon is and what she’s up to, you may find she’ll provide you with guidance.
Some even say that when a woman places more focus on the moon on a nightly basis, her own “moon time” (or monthly cycle) will be affected, with either her menstruation or ovulation syncing with the new or full moon. Both of these have fascinating energetic implications, but we’ll cover that another day.
What’s a New Moon, Anyway?
Right now, the moon is in her “new” phase, meaning she isn’t visible and the sky is dark. You might feel a need to withdraw during a new moon or to take it easy. You could be feeling a bit more raw and sensitive than usual.
That’s completely natural. New moons are generally a time to look inward and take stock of what’s happened in the past lunar cycle. What was gained, what was lost, what can be celebrated, and what could stand a change.
In addition to being a time of reflection, a new moon is an ideal time to make short term plans for the next lunar cycle. It’s also a perfect time to set intentions for what you’d like to manifest in your life over the next six months, when the full moon reaches the sign that our new moon is currently in.
About Taurean Energy
Right now, the new moon is in the sign of the bull, Taurus. New moons always coincide with the current sun sign. So you might say we’re getting a double dose of Taurus energy right now. Which, I think you’ll agree, might be a welcome change after our chaotic Aries season over the last month.
Taurus energy is slow and sensuous. It’s grounded, which we could use more of right now, but it’s also celebratory. It marks the beginning of spring, and abundance waiting just around the corner. Taurus loves her earthly delights, her creature comforts, and her luxury.
Taurus is also pragmatic and methodical, an energy that makes us buckle down and start doing the serious work we need to in order to reach our goals.
So What Are You Going to Manifest?
Today, do some intention setting. Where do you want to be when the full moon in Taurus hits on October 31, 2020?
(And yes, you read that right, Halloween is falling on a full moon this year. The world had better be back up and running!)
Get specific. What sort of abundance will you manifest over the next six months? Do you wish to call in a new partner? Will you be looking for a new work opportunity? Do you have financial goals you’d like to see come to fruition? How about health or fitness milestones?
Today, take time to write these goals down, in as much detail as possible. Truly visualize them coming true. Meditate, and then journal on them. If you’d like to treat this as a new moon ritual (and why wouldn’t you?) you could pull some tarot or oracle cards for guidance, and then burn your list of intentions (outside and in a fireproof vessel!) to seal the ritual.
Otherwise, tuck those pages into a notebook, and check back in on Halloween to see what sort of manifestation powers you’ve been able to harness under this new moon.
