We should all be thinking about keeping ourselves healthy all the time, but sometimes it takes a global health crisis to make us sit up and pay attention. And believe it or not, the zodiac can give us a clue about specific ailments we should be on the lookout for. Read on to see what your sign might be prone to, and how you can help to combat it.

Aries (March 21-April 19) 

Has anyone ever told you that you’re “hot-headed,” Aries? That might be because the Ram of the zodiac rules the head. You might be prone to headaches and migraines—and constantly clenching your jaw in stressful situations could bring on or exacerbate painful TMJ.

Look into home remedies for headaches, and try to channel that stress into some adrenaline-pumping exercise to spare your poor noggin.

Taurus (April 20-May 20) 

The Bull rules the throat, so you might find yourself prone to ear, nose, and throat conditions, Taurus. These are often brought on by seasonal and weather change, so luckily it’s something you can prepare for. Thyroid issues are also something you might need to keep an eye on.

Keep yourself healthy by staying warm—stock up on scarves, drink immune-boosting teas, and keep throat remedies on hand.

Gemini (May 21-June 20) 

Gemini rules the nervous system (surprise, surprise, you little bundle of energy, you) and your need to constantly multi-task and overachieve can lead to anxiety, panic, and burnout. Stress management techniques and remedies are your friends. Gemini also rules the hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders. You could be prone to repetitive stress injuries, especially things like carpal tunnel.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

You’re ruled by the moon, Cancer, and are amazing at going with your gut. You’re also amazing at internalizing things within your gut, which can get you into trouble. Bottling up stress and hard emotions can lead to gut issues like emotional eating, acid reflux, and weight gain. Speak up and express your feelings more. It might do wonders for your physical health.

Leo (July 23-August 22) 

Ah, the lion-hearted. Leo, you’re as brave and bold as your sign makes you sound. But you’ve also gotta protect your ticker. Heart issues, high blood pressure, and back problems are all things you may be prone to. Much of this can be tied to your emotions, and mitigating stress, drama, and heartache as much as is possible would be wise. I know, I know. Easier said than done.

Virgo (August 23-September 22) 

It takes you a while to process things, Virgo, and that includes your approach to food. You can be prone to things like food allergies, eating disorders, and IBS. Maintaining your high expectations and critical perspective can also bring on stress-related digestive issues like ulcers. Taking time to slow down, and build up a meditation or yoga practice, could help curb that stress in the long run.

Libra (September 23-October 22) 

Libra rules the adrenals, kidneys, bladder, and other organs that eliminate liquid waste. Make sure you stay on top of your diet and water intake to ensure things are working as they should. While you seek balance in most areas of your life, when it comes to your digestive health you’re either too stopped up or you’re running to the bathroom every five minutes. Diet is the key to finding the happy medium.

Scorpio (October 23-November 21) 

Scorpio rules the reproductive and elimination organs, so you might be prone to rough menstrual cycles, bathroom issues, hormone imbalances, and endocrine disorders like diabetes. Much of this can stem from emotional challenges, Scorpio, as you’re not always one to dwell on the lighter side of life. Along with paying special attention to your diet, more talking and less brooding could do a body good.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21) 

As a centaur archer, it kind of makes sense that Sagittarius might have issues with the hips, legs, and thighs. Hip and sciatic pain can be an issue, possibly because though you’re always up for an adventure, you’re kind of a klutz too. As that fun-loving soul that you are, you also need to watch overindulgence in alcohol and other substances that you know aren’t good for you. Keep things in moderation.

Capricorn (December 22-January 20) 

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the planet of structure. And it’s your structure you need to keep an eye on, Cap. Bones, knees, teeth, and joints can all be weak spots. Make sure to get plenty of calcium, and the other vitamins and minerals you need to keep yourself strong. Regular bodywork like chiropractic care, massages, and acupuncture can also be great. (If you can get past the woo of it all.)

Aquarius (January 21-February 20) 

Marching to the beat of your own drummer can take its toll, Aquarius, especially on your lower legs, ankles, and circulation in general. You can be prone to sprains, strains, and varicose veins (unintentional but amazing rhyme) as well as blood-flow issues. Eat warming, circulation-supporting foods. Ask for foot rubs. Do what you can to protect those tootsies. We need you out there marching right now.

Pisces (February 21-March 20) 

Being such a sensitive, empathic sign is beautiful in so many ways, Pisces, but it can also be hell on the immune system because of all that internalized worry and negative emotions. Take special care to get as much vitamin C as possible, stock up on immune-boosting home remedies, and don’t forget to get lots of rest. Meditation and journaling can also help put some stronger boundaries in place.
