The 3 Types of Signs that Most Affect Your Horoscope

Your horoscope is determined by more than just your zodiac or sun sign, which is the sign that falls within your date of birth. There are actually three signs that have the most influence over you, and that is why two people with the same sign can be vastly different.

What is a horoscope?

A horoscope is derived from an astrological chart or diagram that represents the positions of the sun, moon, planets, astrological aspects and sensitive angles at the time of an event, such as a person’s birth.

A horoscope is an observational forecast, in fact, the word “horoscope” is derived from two Greek words “hora” (meaning “time”) and “scopos” (meaning “observer”).

An astrologer interprets the astrological chart as a method of divination of events relating to the point in time it represents.

Let’s look at the three major signs that influence your horoscope…

1. Your Sun sign

Your sun sign is also called your zodiac sign (i.e. Aquarius, Aries, Virgo, etc.). Your sun sign looks at the ecliptic, the path the sun follows in the sky over the course of a year. That path is divided into twelve 30 degree longitudinal spatial divisions, each corresponding to a constellation within the zodiac (an area of the sky that extends approximately eight degrees north or south of the ecliptic) for which the signs are named.

2. Your moon sign

Your moon sign is calculated by determining the exact position of the moon on the date and time you were born. Calculating this correctly requires the use of a birth (natal) chart. Your moon sign influences your unconscious and subconscious mind. It determines your instincts, intuitions, emotions and feelings. It plays a key role in your emotional development.

It reveals parts of yourself that you may keep hidden from others. Your moon sign can give you a more accurate and complete explanation of your traits – often, even more definitively than your sun sign.

3. Your rising sign

A rising sign, also called an ascendant sign, exerts more power than the sun, moon or the planets. Its influence perpetrates everything on your natal (birth) chart. It is derived from which zodiac sign was rising on the eastern horizon at the exact moment of your birth. Because the ascendant is the first point of energy on your natal chart, it colors “first impressions.”

It has a profound effect on the way you present yourself, view life and how you are viewed. It influences how you express “who you are,” how you interact with others, and how you deal with day-to-day life. Because the rising sign changes about every two hours, your exact time of birth and a birth chart are needed for an accurate determination of your ascendant sign.
