They’re strong, they’re sensual, they’re hard-working, and Venus herself smiles down on them. Anyone born under the second zodiac sign (April 20-May 20) is a force to be reckoned with. It would be impossible to cover all the star power born under the sign of the Bull (in fact, we may need to do a Hollywood Screen Legends edition next), but we’ve tried to compile a list of 10 celebrities who embody the Taurean energy so perfectly.
Adele (May 5)
You’re going to notice a lot of epic singers on this list. It’s no coincidence that the sign of Taurus rules the throat. Many born under the sign of the bull have a natural artistic prowess, and this powerhouse is no exception. You’ll also get a glimpse of her loyal Taurean nature in the lyrics of several of Adele’s songs.
Henry Cavill (May 5)
Though his Sun in Taurus is tempered a bit by both his Moon and Ascendant in Aquarius, Henry Cavill still represents several Taurean traits. Taurus and Aquarius are both fixed signs of the zodiac, so there’s quite a strong, stubborn streak to him. I mean, who could pull off Superman quite like a Taurus? He’s also got the softer side of the sign as well, and is on record as being a serious nature and dog lover.
Cate Blanchett (May 14)
Cate Blanchett was born with not only the Sun Taurus, but her Ascendant as well. That double-dose of Taurean energy probably explains her grounded attitude toward family and stability.
After starring in dozens of Hollywood pictures, she made the decision to move back to Australia with her husband and three sons, in order to be closer to family and to give her children a more stable upbringing. She’s also passionate about environmental and human rights causes.
George Clooney (May 6)
This fun-loving prankster once said he would be a lifelong bachelor—something he stuck to for a long, long time. He was married back in the early 90’s and has said he “wasn’t very good at it.”
A Bull doesn’t like to make a mistake twice. But Taurus men are also typically drawn to the stability of marriage and wish to settle down with the right partner. They also like someone on their arm they can brag about, and lucky for George, he found Amal Alamuddin—a drop-dead gorgeous, Oxford-educated, international human rights lawyer. Overachiever, much?
Lizzo (April 27)
“Hi, I’m Lizzo….I’m a Taurus. I like long walks on da beach and ice-cream meditation.” This singer, rapper, and songwriter was born with not only the Sun in Taurus, but Jupiter and Mercury too.
This gives her an increased dose of sensuality, tenacity, and artistic talent. She also spreads her message of finding beauty in everyone, wherever she goes. Which is some serious Venus goddess energy.
Robert Pattinson (May 13)
Robert Pattinson has the distinction of being the only triple Taurus on the list—that’s a Taurus Sun, Moon, and Ascendant. During Twilight’s heyday, he seemed a bit spiky toward all the fame he quickly garnered. But generally, a Bull would rather be taken seriously for their talents, not gawked at for their exploits.
These days he seems to be taking himself a little less seriously, and is more likely to show his self-deprecating humor in interviews. He’s also been delving into the more grounded, dramatic roles he probably craves.
Cher (May 20)
Is there something about strong Taurean women who feel no need for a last name? Cher is an absolute legend. Sitting at the Taurus/Gemini cusp might have something to do with her youthful and vivacious energy.
I mean, seriously, she still looks better in a catsuit than most women one third her age. In fact, after an epic performance at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, the then 71-year-old singer told the crowd, “I can do a five-minute plank, OK? Just saying.’”
David Beckham (May 2)
Devoted husband and dad David Beckham is the embodiment of Taurean male energy. While traveling abroad with his teammates in 1996, he reportedly saw Posh Spice in a music video, pointed to her, and said she was the woman he wanted.
Within months they were an item, and they’ve now been married for 20 years and have four children. When a Taurus sees something he wants, he goes after it.
Barbara Streisand (April 24)
Beauty? Check. Talent? Check. Pipes? Double Check. Ms. Streisand has a reputation for enjoying the finer things in life, and who can blame her? She’s got an amazing work ethic and no B.S. attitude that’s gotten her to where she is today. She has every right to sit back in that luxurious home and enjoy the fruits of her hard-won labor.
Stephen Colbert (May 13)
Brilliant, talented, and charming. That’s Taurus to a T. From improv with Second City, to Strangers With Candy, to The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and The Late Show—Stephen Colbert has kept us scratching our heads and laughing our booties off for years. But aside from being a showman, he’s a devoted family man to his wife and three children.
