Andromeda DavisAs the deadline for holiday shopping draws near, I started thinking about the different ways that the Zodiac Signs express themselves through gift-giving. Let’s just say that some of them are better at thoughtful gifting than others. (ahem, Aries)
What’s your gift-giving style? And how can you expect your loved ones to give presents? Read on to discover the way each sign of the Zodiac approaches presents.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
It’s not that Aries doesn’t care. They’re just not always great at this kind of thing. Aries is much more likely to give you something that they want for themselves. The logic is that if they want it, it must be good–and they want you to have something good!
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Taurus is all about gifts that appeal to the senses. Think scented candles, tasty treats, soft blankets or pillows… If a Taurus is your Secret Santa, you’re going to get something indulgent and luxurious.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
When Geminis are in charge of gift-giving, they find it impossible to decide on just one thing. That’s why you’ll end up with a big bag of cute, fun, and just plain weird little gifts.
It may be a case of quantity over quality when Gemini goes shopping, so it might be a good idea to suggest they stick with gift cards instead.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
If possible, Cancer will do handmade gifts for every holiday. They believe in the idea that gifts made with love are more valuable than anything that can be bought at a store.
Unfortunately, their skill level may not match their ambitions, but if you get a handmade gift from Cancer, tell them you adore it anyway.
Leo (July 23-August 22)
Leos can get a little competitive when it comes to gift-giving. They’ll try to one-up last year’s gifts without regard to pesky little things like budgets. If you don’t want Leo to go overboard, set very clear guidelines for how you plan to exchange gifts–one item for each person, no more than $50 total, etc.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Although they may seem cold, even aloof at times, Virgo knows exactly what’s on your wish list and will do everything possible to make sure it ends up under the tree.
These surprisingly thoughtful gift-givers tend to err on the side of practicality, however, so don’t be surprised if you end up with kitchen tools or socks.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Libras can get a little vindictive when the holidays roll around. They know if you’ve been bad or good–and they’ll shop for gifts with your year-end score at the forefront of their mind.
If Libra thinks you’ve been good, expect to get something lavish. If not… well, you might just end up with coal in your stocking this year.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Scorpio earns their reputation as the most difficult sign of the Zodiac during the holidays. Exchanging gifts with them is a little like running the world’s deadliest obstacle course, full of traps and tests.
It’s best to ask Scorpio exactly what they want and then follow their request to the letter; they’ll do the same for you, and the annual crisis can be averted.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
Wait, is it time for presents already?! Expect Sagittarius to grab something at the last minute–or even after the last minute. At least you can get good sales the week after Christmas.
Sagittarius is also the sign most likely to get gag gifts for everyone–regardless of whether it’s appropriate to give grandma that whoopie cushion.
Capricorn (December 23-January 20)
Capricorn does not give fun, surprising gifts. They do, however, gift their loved ones with practical stuff that you’ll use every day. Opening presents lacks the “wow” factor, but come February, you’ll still be using that nice bottle opener or set of dryer balls long after you’ve lost or broken all those novelty gifts from other Zodiac signs.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
The only rule for Aquarius is to expect the unexpected. They might give everyone the gift of an in-home sage cleansing this year. Or they might adopt a cow in your name for an African village. Or maybe this year, they’ll do Indian cotton scarves for everyone on their list. You just never know.
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
Pisces will spend a lot of time thinking about the perfect gift for everyone on their list. Then they’ll realize that they can’t afford all of that and go for something totally different at the last minute.
These sensitive souls truly hope that you’ll love your gift–so go easy on them, okay? Even if your heart isn’t full of joy upon unwrapping a novelty cat calendar.
