How Astrology Helped Usher in the New Age

You’ve undoubtedly heard a lot about the “New Age.” What you may not know is that the new age has actually been ushered in by astrology. In this article, we will examine the connection between the new age and how astrology helped to introduce it.

The precession of the equinoxes

To get a fuller understanding, we first need to begin with a little background on the cosmos, starting with an important event known as the “precession of the equinoxes.”

It should also be noted that historically, what was once called the “precession of the equinoxes” is now called “axial precession” by astronomers. However, astrologers still use the former term.

The precession is how the equinoxes (the moment when the Earth’s equator passes through the center of the sun, which occurs twice each year) move westward along the ecliptic (the path in the sky that the sun follows over the course of a year) relative to the fixed stars (stars that appear not to move relative to each other in the night sky compared to the foreground of the solar system objects that do), opposite the yearly motion of the sun along the ecliptic.

Now here’s the real important part…

The precession of the equinoxes refers to the gradual shift in the orientation of the Earth’s axis. Keep in mind that the Earth is tilted on its axis. This slow rotation completes a cycle approximately every 25,772 years (although astrologers disagree on the exact number).

Astrological ages

Now that you understand how the precession of the equinoxes works and creates a roughly 26,000 year cycle, we’ll look at what that means to astrology.

Doing a little math, it works out that each 72 years, a star will move one degree forward through the zodiac.

Thus, it works out that about every 2,160 years the sun will move into a new constellation of the zodiac. (However, some people argue that this cycle is between every 2,250-2,600 years).

Putting all this together, looking at these approximately 26,000 year cycles, we have been in different astrological ages throughout the course of history.

Every time one of these time periods begins a new cycle, we enter a “New Age.”

Astrological ages so far

Here are some approximate definitions of ages that have occurred so far. Keep in mind, among astrologers, there is some debate about the exact time periods of these ages, so the dates may vary depending on what math you prefer to use in determining the precession of the equinoxes.

The age of Virgo: 13,000 BC to 10,860 BC – Time of Gaia-Earth Mother

The age of Leo: 10,970 BC to 8810 BC – The Golden Age, Age of the Sun-God.

The age of Cancer: 8600 BC to 6450 BC – The Age of the Goddess Moon, The Age of the Great Mother.

The age of Gemini: 6450 BC to 4300 BC – The Golden age of wisdom, The Age of the twins, duality, communication, and trade.

The age of Taurus: 4300 BC to 2150 BC – The Age of Earth and agriculture.

The age of Aries: 2150 BCE to AD 1 – The age of war and fire.

The age of Pisces: AD 1 to AD 2012-2150 (astrologers debate whether this age has ended) – The Age of monotheism and spirituality.

The Age of Aquarius – the New Age

The Age of Aquarius will represent an age of freedom, electricity, and technology.

Astrologers debate whether we are already in this age or whether it is yet to come. Some believe this age began in 2012, while others believe it won’t begin until much later, possibly as late as 2150, even 2600. Again, it’s all dependent on how you calculate the precession of the equinoxes.

However, what all astrologers agree on is that this will usher in a “New Age” that will have a profound influence, significantly changing the lives of human beings living in that era.

As you’re about to learn, and given what the Age of Aquarius represents, it seems far more likely that we are already in this age.

What will the Age of Aquarius bring?

Possessing the qualities of the zodiac sign Aquarius, the Age of Aquarius will usher in new thoughts and innovations. Aquarius itself is a sign of things newly invented.

New technology

The Age of Aquarius is predicted to be a time of technology, especially that related to electricity. We are already seeing technology rise exponentially year after year.

Aquarius is also an air sign, and we have seen an increase in wireless technologies. We can now electrically charge items wirelessly through the air, and technology already exists to do the same with electric vehicles.

We are seeing a rise in the development of the hybridization between man and machine, a symbiotic joining. Technology is rapidly being deployed for prosthetic purposes for those with injuries and disabilities, replacing damaged parts with technological ones.

New thought

The age of Aquarius is associated with freedom, and as an air sign, it also associated with thought. One of the most important things we are seeing, even now, is new thought. The new age will be a time of future-thinking, idealism, altruism, democracy, a time of “one for all and all for one.”

We may see a coming together of religions and governments, a more universal approach.

We could see an end to corporate tyrannies, and an end to the 1% taking all the spoils, with a shift towards team-approaches, more equality and sharing of profit.

Are we already in the New Age?

While astrologers debate on whether we are in the Age of Aquarius now or it is yet to come, the changes around us are reflective of what the Age of Aquarius is predicted to bring – things that are already here – right now. Thus, it is more likely than not that we are currently in this New Age.
