Your Mystery Love: A Secret Admirer Tarot Reading

Dearest Friend,

You may have noticed lately, or at least had an inkling, that someone has set their sights on you. But for reasons unknown, they’ve chosen to keep their intentions hidden.

I know the suspense is killing you, so I’ve created a tarot reading to help you suss out who this admirer is, how they feel about you, and what the future might hold if you were to become lovers.

The question is, Dear Reader, would you rather your love life stay shrouded in mystery, or would you like a glimpse of this potential soulmate?

The choice is up to you, but if you’re ready to learn more, read on…

Card One: Who Is Your Secret Admirer?

Eight of Swords, Reversed

So who is this mystery love, and why are they being so secretive? I was curious about this as well, and so I asked the cards. What I received was the Eight of Swords, a card that typically signifies fear, doubt, and restriction.

In a word, this person is frozen in fear, and that’s why they haven’t made their feelings known. They’re afraid of making the first move, of rejection or ridicule, and possibly of losing their current standing with you if they’re honest about how they see you.

It’s also possible that they feel like making the first move might upset someone else–perhaps a current or ex-lover of yours that they’re close friends with.

The good news is that because of that reversed position, they may soon release those fears. They may have sought the blessing of someone else close to the situation, or they’ve finally decided that life’s too short to deny their own happiness for the comfort of others.

Even so, this card indicates that this isn’t a quick-moving scenario, and they may sit back and wait for you to strike first.

Card Two: How Do You Know Them?

The Hierophant

The Hierophant is classically known as a card of traditional values or institutions. This seems to indicate that your secret admirer is actually someone from your past.

The institutions in question are most likely either from your educational background (your high school or college) or from a place of worship from your childhood and adolescence.

If you’re currently in school, or you attend a church, synagogue, or mosque, it’s quite possible that this person is in your immediate social circle.

The other possibility is that this is a long-time family friend–someone who’s been in your life for as long as you can remember.

The Hierophant indicates a very traditionally-minded person, which could explain how cautious and slow-moving they seem to be in expressing their feelings toward you.

Card Three: How Do They Feel About You?

Two of Swords, Reversed

The Two of Swords is a card about deliberation and indecision, and usually indicates that you’re at a crossroads or an impasse. In this position, it’s circling back to the theme of fear and paralyzation that we saw in the reversed Eight of Swords.

While this person obviously has deep feelings for you, that might actually seem surprising because they act in a platonic or even indifferent way when you’re around each other.

This is, again, simply extreme caution. They’re carefully deliberating whether or not the risk of rejection or alienation is worth it.

It’s possible that their own past relationships are playing a part in this as well. If they were in a prior partnership that they were deeply committed to, and then were betrayed or taken advantage of, that fear of being hurt again will keep them frozen.

And faced with the choice of denying their true feelings or risking their heart again, the friend zone sounds like a mighty comfortable place to live. They might need to know that you’re a sure thing before they show their hand.

Card Four: What You Could Look Forward to Together

The Chariot

The good news here is that if your secret admirer ever musters the courage to pursue you–or if you decide to make that first move yourself–this looks like a sure thing.

The Chariot is a card of success, determination, and forward momentum. That anxiety and indecision that’s plaguing your potential love will fall away once they know their feelings are returned, and you’ll find yourself living alongside a driven partner who will be tenacious in the pursuit of your goals as a couple.

It indicates tackling challenges together, and could portend great success in your future–both individually and as a team. It also indicates a life filled with travel and adventure, as difficult as it may be to visualize that right now.

In short, if you can get going, there’s a chance you’ll never stop.

Card Five: What You Should Look Out For

Six of Cups

The Six of Cups is a card that signifies childhood memories, yearning for the past, and reunions. This is a confirmation of sorts that this person is from your past—maybe even a childhood friend.

In this position, it’s serving as a warning though, or at least something to be on the lookout for.

Because your admirer has pined for you for so long, the reality of actually being with you might not match all of those fantasies they’ve been playing in their heads. Which isn’t a deal-breaker, but they might be prone to compare you to an ideal that isn’t realistic.

It could also signal a longing for the past, or a habit of holding grudges. This could be a tendency for them to view things through the lens of past relationship wounds. Or to hold onto resentment stemming from disagreements between the two of you.

Open communication is the way through this complication. Honesty about where you both stand, what your expectations are, and how you’ll tolerate being treated are key.

Card Six: Advice Going Forward

Knight of Wands, Reversed

If this reading has helped you to determine that someone has unspoken feelings for you–and hopefully given you an indication of who that person is–and you feel like you might return those feelings, it may be up to you to make the first move.

The Knight of Wands is a card of movement, energy, and adventure. But as it’s reversed here, I feel there’s a warning to temper some of that enthusiasm. Just a touch.

Considering how cautious and traditional your secret admirer seems, you may need to soften your approach. Don’t charge in and take control to the point where you intimidate or steamroll them. That’s no way to start off a partnership.

Rather, subtly let them know that you’re open to such an adventure, and give them the space and the assurance to then make that decision with you.

If that’s the path you choose, this looks like it could be a partnership filled with love, adventure, and mutual respect for each other.
