My Sign Says

Summer 2020 Scorpio

Hello, and thank you for purchasing your Summer 2020 Astrological Forecast! In these pages, we’ll be taking an in-depth look at current and upcoming planetary transits, eclipses, retrogrades, and other astrological events to see how they can shed some light on what’s in store for us this summer.

So, let’s get the technical stuff out of the way, shall we?

Right now, we’re seeing a historic stellium of Saturn, Pluto, and Jupiter in Capricorn.

That’s basically a fancy way of saying that these three outer, slower-moving planets are in the sign of Capricorn right now. This hasn’t happened in centuries – since 1284, to be exact.

Here’s why that’s interesting.

solar system
When a planet transits a specific sign, it doesn’t exactly change that planet’s energy. But it does filter it a bit.

Saturn and Pluto are both associated with endings and rebirth. Jupiter rules knowledge, principles, and truth. The sign these three planets are currently transiting, Capricorn, is all about pragmatism, ambition, and the type of structures and institutions that enable those ideas to exist (think corporations and governments).

When a planet transits a specific sign, it doesn’t exactly change that planet’s energy. But it does filter it a bit. So when Pluto, a planet known to really shake things up, enters Capricorn, a sign that loves stability and structure, we can expect to see vast changes in our business and political institutions.

The fact that the three planets in question are slower-moving is significant as well. While planets closer to us can move through signs in a matter of days or weeks, the outer planets often take years to move from one sign to the next. This means that the changes they bring are monumental, serious renovations. Like, history-in-the-making types of shifts.

Right now, we’re seeing old ways, systems, and values being phased out, despite a call to return to the “greatness” of the past.

Sound a little close to home?

It’s also worth noting that when Pluto and Saturn are in hard aspect to each other (meaning they’re either in the same spot on the Zodiac wheel or exactly opposite of each other), major world events have been known to occur.

The last time Pluto was in opposition to Saturn, for example, was September 11, 2001.

So what does all of this mean for you, dear reader? Well, it means we’re in an interesting time, and historic change is headed our way. By paying attention to where the planets are transiting – and being sensitive to the specific energies they influence – you can better prepare to navigate the coming months.

You can think of this like a weather forecast. Things will be more pleasant if you’re ready to grab an umbrella when necessary.

Let’s dig in.

Career Forecast: Summer 2020

Career Forecast: Summer 2020

You might be feeling pulled in two different directions right now—on one hand, longing to grow and expand in your current career, and on the other, feeling the need to step back, simplify, and question things. Reconciling those two could be a little tricky. But with so much Capricorn influence right now calling us to be methodical and meticulous, it may be wise to temper any big moves for now.

Jupiter’s position in Capricorn makes it clear that we need to work hard to make things happen right now. That means no phoning it in, no get rich quick schemes, and probably not much risk-taking. We’re longing for direction and clear goals, and we’re yearning for tangible results. The way to expand and improve your current situation is to put your head down and do the work.

This is an excellent time to get chummy with your supervisors and managers. If you’re among the millions of newly remote employees across the country, make sure that your higher-ups see the effort you’ve been putting in. Arrange a video call so they can see your face. Show them you’re working hard and consistently, despite the lack of oversight or micromanagement. Let them know you’re here for the team, not just yourself. This is not a time to rock the boat.

While all of this might sound a bit humdrum, it doesn’t mean there’s no room for innovation or creativity. Uranus is currently transiting Taurus, shaking up our attitudes toward money and personal possessions. There will be a big push to revolutionize how we make money, where we make that money, and how we do business in general.

Innovative ways to bring comfort into our lives (perhaps for all of those new home offices?) could be an important business trend in the next several months.

Mercury goes retrograde on June 18, which can complicate areas of communication (pertinent) and travel (maybe not as pertinent). It’s best not to sign legal contracts or make very large purchases until it goes direct again on July 12.

Love Forecast: Summer 2020

Love Forecast: Summer 2020

Capricorn’s influence will be felt in the arenas of love and sex this summer. In times of uncertainty, we find ourselves reaching for stability, commitment, and tradition. There’s much less tolerance for lies and deception. Long term relationships are valued, and flings seem less desirable.

It’s an auspicious time to consider working together with your partner by showing an interest in each other’s goals and ambitions—an interesting astrological occurrence in light of recent events.

Millions and millions of couples are now forced to work together in quite close quarters. If you’re among this number, it’s so, so important to remain flexible and patient. Lay out some ground rules and try your best to be helpful toward each other, not distracting or critical. Consideration and respect will go a long way. You’re both in this together.

Make time and an extra effort to be as open and communicative as possible.

For those in new or long-distance relationships, a desire for more stability and commitment can be quite uncomfortable—especially in the case of involuntary separation. Make time and an extra effort to be as open and communicative as possible. Harken back to the days of yore (or, like, the 90s) and take up writing long-form letters to your love. Set up virtual movie dates, and talk by phone or video as much as possible. So much of romance is conveyed through the voice. Don’t try to maintain a relationship over text.

Venus goes retrograde in Gemini from May 13-June 25. Complications in the areas of love and desire will arise at this time, so be especially conscious and grateful in how you approach the object of your desire. Retrogrades always stir up memories and longings of the heart.

Finally, with Uranus transiting Taurus, we’ll continue to see shifts in how we approach sex and gratification this summer. We’re feeling freer about expressing ourselves sexually and sensually, about celebrating our bodies, and about focusing on self-love and self-care. We’ll also continue to re-examine traditional gender roles and embrace a more new-age view of the feminine.

Friends and Family Forecast: Summer 2020

Friends and Family Forecast: Summer 2020

Take time to connect with your friends and family this summer, even if—and especially while—you’re physically separated from each other. We’re in the midst of some upheaval, energetically speaking, and it’s more important than ever to keep yourself centered by maintaining close ties.

That doesn’t mean it will be smooth sailing, though, especially when it comes to family relationships. You may have to put in the lion’s share of the work. Try to remain as patient and understanding as possible.

The North Node transiting Gemini in May calls us to develop more tact in our communication. Make sure you listen to people. Like, really listen. Don’t react until you’ve gathered all the facts.

Our eclipse season, from June to July, specifically highlights family ties, father figures, and other people in positions of authority that might drop a peg or two in our eyes. We may not feel like these individuals are taking the responsibility they should.

Eclipse season also calls us to seek a better balance between our professional and personal lives. More than ever, we need to establish a strong sense of home. Put in the effort to make partners, spouses, and children feel safe and valued within it.

Reach out to friends and family you’re physically separated from. These people offer us safety, security, and a sense of belonging. The distance between us makes nurturing these relationships even more important. Remain empathetic and flexible.

Also, be aware of Capricorn’s influence manifesting as a need for control. Don’t let that become a need to control others. This will only end in frustration and heartbreak.

In late July, there may be an urge to pursue more idealistic and humanitarian goals, and to gather with others in this effort. While we’re not sure if physical gatherings will be allowed at that time, it will be an opportunity to make connections with people from different backgrounds and perspectives. Take advantage of this chance to grow your circle, even if it needs to be virtual.

Personal Growth Forecast: Summer 2020

Personal Growth Forecast: Summer 2020

Despite the shaming memes you’ve seen to the contrary, don’t get caught up in the pressure to write the Great American Novel during this time. Isolation and social distancing don’t have to be a time of innovation. But it does allow us to do a little inner work as we’re adjusting to this “new normal.”

Capricorn’s influence makes us want to take control of our circumstances by any means possible. Keep an eye on these feelings, and make a point to avoid being materialistic or greedy. Be aware of power-hungry or status-conscious behavior. Jupiter will help us to keep these things in perspective as we focus on the bigger picture.

Saturn likes to test us—not out of cruelty, but for our own good. It reveals areas of our lives that could be strengthened. Blaming others for the situation you currently find yourself in will only bring on melancholy and anger. We’ve all been given an opportunity to slow down and take stock of our lives. We’re learning about our personal limits and inner strength.

Happiness

Take the opportunity to release the behaviors and thought patterns that no longer serve you. Let go of defeating attitudes that have been holding you back. Have you felt stagnant and frustrated in the past, unable to break free from your self-imposed standards? Maybe it’s time to focus your energy and let go of outdated goals or lost causes.

Neptune goes retrograde in dreamy Pisces on June 18. This will bring opportunities for spiritual growth, finding hidden meaning in everyday things, and for developing our intuition. Amidst all of this Capricorn responsibility, take the time to indulge yourself a little. If you’ve ever wanted to start a meditation practice, open an astrology book, or pick up a tarot deck, now might be a perfect time to experiment in the more esoteric arts.

Above all, be gentle with yourself this summer. Personal growth isn’t something you can just dabble in and accomplish in a few months. It’s a lifetime commitment to nurturing your relationship with yourself—the most intimate one you’ll ever have.

So, Now What?

We’ve talked about some pretty intense energetic influences throughout this forecast. The coming months might not be all sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows, but it’s important to keep things in perspective.

We’re not being flattened, just asked to slow down a bit. To live in the moment and not take unnecessary risks. To focus on structure, and on building our lives in ways that will benefit us—all of us—later on down the line.

We can find freedom in leaving behind those patterns that are no longer useful and aligning with our truest, most authentic selves.

And luckily, those stars keep on turning. Make sure you sign up for our Autumn forecast to see where the next phase of 2020 will take us.
