My Sign Says

September 2020 Astrological Forecast

Dearest Friend,

2020 has, thus far, been one for the books, wouldn’t you say? It’s as though everything has gone off the rails. The expression should be “We plan, 2020 laughs.”

The thing is, for those of us paying attention to the patterns of the stars, not everything has been so shocking. The signs that 2020 was going to be a year of radical change were quite clear. If you have a handle on planetary aspects and transits, retrogrades, eclipses, and other astrological events, you can use them as a type of roadmap. Maybe not to spell everything out precisely as it will happen, but to help you keep your head on a swivel, so to speak.

We’ll take a look at the major players in the skies over the course of the month, and use them to shed some light on your career, your love life, your relationships with your friends and family, and your potential personal growth.

If you’re regularly caught outside in the rain, you begin to check the weather report before you leave the house. So, here’s your September forecast. Don’t forget your umbrella.

September 2020 Career Forecast

On September 2, the full moon is in the sign of dreamy Pisces. This is a time of creativity and inspiration, and an excellent opportunity for networking and collaborating. We’ll be especially prone to inspiration and insights, but be aware that Pisces can also cloud our judgement. Negotiations aren’t advised during the couple of days before and after the full moon, and neither is meticulous, detailed work.

Mercury, ruler of communication, enters Libra on September 5. Libra is the peacemaker of the zodiac, and you’ll find yourself in a very rational, diplomatic space in your communications. Libra is also indecisive though, making this is a weak time for negotiations.

The most dramatic astrological event of September, and perhaps for the remainder of the year, is when Mars goes retrograde in the sign of fiery Aries on September 9. When Mars retrogrades, we can struggle with self-doubt, a lack of assertiveness, and internalized anger over our lack of forward movement.

We get a break when Jupiter, the planet of luck, expansion, and abundance, moves direct on September 13. Jupiter has been retrograding in Capricorn since mid-May. Now we can expect growth in the areas of career and finances.

On the new moon in Virgo, happening September 17, we’ll have the opportunity to focus on themes of productivity and organization, and can actively work to manifest them into our lives.

The sun moves into the peacemaking sign of Libra on September 22, doubling down on that diplomatic energy with Mercury still in the same sign. Libra season brings all sorts of beauty, but decision-making and negotiations remain difficult.

Five days later on September 27, Mercury moves from tactful Libra into intense Scorpio, and our communication style finds its edge. Small talk and diplomacy give way to sharp, probing conversations, and we can read other’s motivations in an almost uncanny way.

Finally, on September 29, Saturn stations direct after retrograding since mid-May. Saturn is the ruler of structure, boundaries, foundations, traditions, and rules. Moving direct, we may find ourselves feeling like we’re back on our career path after several months of uncertainty.

September 2020 Love Forecast

The month starts off quite strongly for our love lives with the full moon in Pisces on September 2. It’s a day of romance, empathy, intuitive hits, and creative fire.

When Venus moves into Leo on September 6, expect grand gestures and plenty of passion. You’ll desire a good deal of attention and adoration, as will your partner. Jealousy and drama could ensue if you’re not sensitive to each other’s needs at this time. But it’ll be fun, regardless.

A little friction turns up when Mars stations retrograde in Aries on September 9. A lack of initiative and a good deal of self-doubt could manifest in our relationships. We’ll also be more likely to bottle up our emotions than usual. Be careful you don’t take out your anger on your partner just because they can’t read your mind.

You might find yourself longing to return to an old relationship during this retrograde, in efforts to “fix” something that had gone wrong. This might work out for a time, but when Mars stations direct again, you’ll remember why it ended in the first place.

As we move into Libra season on September 22, you’ll find yourself seeking out love and beauty at every turn. Things are peaceful and easy. For the most part. Libra’s influence can make it difficult to take a stance on anything, which could cause some frustration with your partner.

When Mercury moves into Scorpio on September 27, it brings an urge to explore your lover’s dark side—and maybe even some taboos in the process. Small talk isn’t going to cut it under this transit—you want to plumb the depths of their soul and uncover long-buried secrets. There’ll be plenty of passion. But they might get a little uncomfortable, too.

At the end of the month, when Saturn stations direct on September 29, you’ll find that any relationship insecurities that have arisen in the past several months seem rather small. Things are feeling stable and secure, finally.

September 2020 Friends & Family Forecast

Have you been missing the connection between your friends and family since the start of the pandemic? The full moon in Pisces on September 2 could be a fantastic time to get creative in that area. Gatherings might look a bit different now, but they’re no less important. Pisces gives us a good dose of sensitivity and empathy, and we might find that others seek us out for advice or just a shoulder to cry on.

When Mercury enters Libra on September 5, our minds are on keeping the peace at all cost. You don’t want to rock the boat, but not taking any initiative could backfire. Don’t let others walk all over you.

On September 6, Venus moves into Leo, and we’re feeling warm-hearted and expressive with those nearest and dearest to us. This is a season of generosity, and in different times you might treat your friends to an extravagant night out. Find other ways to show your gratitude and love for them. Venus loves beautiful things, and so will your loved ones.

When the Sun moves into Libra on September 22, it ushers in an era of connection. We’re focused on building bridges and finding common ground, and nothing would make us happier than everyone being happy. That’s an irrational goal, of course, and if our efforts aren’t appreciated we might turn to passive aggression and sarcasm. Luckily, Libra is pretty good at keeping a level head.

On September 27, Mercury moves into dark and twisty Scorpio, and your communication is suddenly less diplomatic. Small talk is no longer fulfilling, and questions become more philosophical. We crave depth and profundity from our encounters, and if we don’t find that, we may opt to spend more time alone for a while.

September 2020 Personal Growth Forecast

Full moons are an epic time of personal insights and realizations, and that goes double for the full moon in Pisces on September 2. It’s a perfect time to break out those tarot cards, journal about the epic vivid dreams we’ve been having, or work on a creative project. It’s also the best time to take a good, hard look at what’s going right in your life, and letting go of what’s no longer serving you.

When Mercury moves into Libra on September 5, it can bring up feelings of inadequacy around your communication with others. If you’re feeling like a doormat, it’s time to work on your boundaries. And probably your negotiation skills.

Venus, planet of love and beauty, moves into Leo on September 6. In a word? Treat Yo’ Self. (OK, that was three words.) Your focus should be on self-care and self-love during this time.

On September 9, as Mars begins its moonwalk, it will bring to light issues of self-doubt, hesitation, internalized anger, and anxiety. This is a time to regroup, to slow down, and to rest. It’s also a time to watch your health. Your immune system may be weakened and you’re more prone to accidents.

When Jupiter stations direct on September 13, you’ll be given the opportunity to experience profound expansion, optimism, luck, and progress. This would be a fantastic time for manifestation work and abundance meditations.

On September 17, that theme continues with the new moon in Virgo. Set the intention to manifest career prosperity, good health, productivity, and organization into your life over the next six months.

The sun moves into Mercury on September 22, which is also the Autumn Equinox. The shifts of the season are great times of taking stock of where you are in life and giving thanks for the coming months. Take in the beauty around you, and do whatever soothes your soul.

On September 27, when Mercury moves into reflective Scorpio, it’s an opportune time to take a deep dive into our own psyches. This will be an introspective day. Use it to explore what makes you tick, and what lights you up.

Finally, on September 29 when Saturn stations direct, our paths will appear illuminated after a great deal of time in the dark. Saturn is the planet of tough love and karma. We’ve dealt with some serious stuff over the past several months, and learned some incredible lessons. Now is the time to alchemize them, and put them to good use. Just remember that you’ll reap what you’re sowing now during the next retrograde.
