What Do the Zodiac Signs of the 2020 Oscar Winners Reveal?

Now that the Oscar race has ended for another year and the winners and losers alike are (hopefully) enjoying a well-deserved rest on the couch in their comfiest sweatpants, we thought it would be interesting to look at the Zodiac signs of this year’s major winners.

Best Actor Joaquin Phoenix

Born on October 28, it makes total sense that Joaquin Phoenix is a Scorpio. He has a reputation for being intense on set, but at the same time his sensitivity and deep understanding of human nature makes him one of his generation’s finest actors.

It’s also no surprise that he would be drawn to a dark, complex role like the one that earned him Oscar gold in “Joker.” Scorpios have an affinity with the darker side of things.

Best Actress Renee Zellweger

As the star of “Judy,” a biopic centered on the last days of the legendary Judy Garland, Renee Zellweger had big shoes to fill. As a Taurus (born April 25), she has a sensitive, grounded approach to acting that makes her portrayal seem almost effortless.

In contrast, Judy Garland herself was a mercurial Gemini whose life and career swung between the highest highs and lowest lows.

Best Supporting Actor Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt finally won Oscar gold as an actor for his portrayal of an aging stuntman in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood.” He previously won for his work as a producer on “12 Years a Slave.”

Born on December 18, Brad is a Sagittarius. His laid back, charming persona can be attributed to his Zodiac sign. This Fire sign has a reputation for being strong-willed and independent, however, so don’t let that fool you.

Best Supporting Actress Laura Dern

Laura Dern’s birthday was actually the day after the Oscars this year, so she’s had a busy weekend. The actress was born on February 10, making her an Aquarius.

This sign is fiercely independent and socially conscious; you can see that reflected in her eclectic resume. Dern has starred in both “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and served as a muse for oddball filmmaker David Lynch. This is her first Oscar win.

Best Director Bong Joon Ho

Beating out veteran directors Martin Scorsese, Sam Mendes and Quentin Tarantino, Bong Joon Ho swept the major award categories for his film “Parasite.”

The filmmaker picked up Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay. He also accepted the award for Best International Film on behalf of South Korea. Born September 14, this Virgo seems to exemplify the work ethic, discipline and ambition of that sign.
